Description
Product Overview
The EC-GDE3 is a three-chamber, three-electrode gas diffusion electrochemical flow cell designed for visualized catalyst evaluation and CO₂ electroreduction research. Its PEEK body integrates a quartz observation window for direct viewing of the reaction chamber, while separate gas-delivery and electrolyte-circulation pathways support controlled testing of sheet-type gas diffusion electrodes. The configuration facilitates observation of flooding, bubble accumulation and salt deposition during electrolysis, supporting catalyst evaluation and gas–liquid–solid interface studies.
Key Features
- Quartz Observation Window: The quartz window provides direct visual access to the reaction chamber for observing flooding, bubble formation and salt deposition.
- Research-Focused Electrode Spacing: The 7 mm anode–cathode gap supports general GDE flow-cell experiments, catalyst evaluation and comparative electrochemical studies.
- Chemically Resistant PEEK Body: The PEEK construction provides chemical resistance for repeated assembly and operation under compatible electrochemical conditions.

Published Application Example
High-Selectivity and Long-Term CO₂-to-Ethanol Electrosynthesis: Liu et al. investigated selective CO₂ electroreduction to ethanol using CuAg@NTA gas diffusion electrodes in a three-chamber flow cell. With continuous CO₂ delivery, circulating 0.25 M KHCO₃ electrolyte and three-electrode control, the catalyst achieved an ethanol Faradaic efficiency of 87.21% and an ethanol partial current density of −218.03 mA cm⁻². During extended electrolysis at −250 mA cm⁻², the ethanol Faradaic efficiency remained above 70% after 300 h. The study demonstrates high-rate catalyst evaluation and extended electrolysis using a flow-cell configuration corresponding to the EC-GDE3.
