Description
Product Overview
The EC-GDE4 is a three-chamber, three-electrode gas diffusion electrochemical flow cell developed for short-gap operation and advanced CO₂ electroreduction studies. Its reduced anode–cathode spacing shortens the ionic transport pathway, supporting catalyst evaluation at medium-to-high current densities. The PEEK body incorporates a quartz observation window for direct viewing of the reaction chamber, while independent gas delivery and electrolyte circulation enable controlled electrochemical measurements.
Key Features
- Short Electrode Gap: The 3 mm anode–cathode spacing shortens the ionic transport pathway and helps reduce ohmic losses during electrolysis.
- Quartz Observation Window: The quartz window enables visual monitoring of the reaction chamber, including flooding, bubbles, and salt accumulation.
- Three-Chamber PEEK Construction: The chemically resistant PEEK body supports controlled gas-fed operation with independent electrode compartments.

Published Application Example
High-Rate CO2 Electroreduction to Ethylene: A three-chamber flow cell was used to evaluate surface N-coordinated Cu gas-diffusion electrodes for CO₂ electroreduction. Continuous 1.0 M KOH circulation, controlled CO₂ delivery and three-electrode operation enabled evaluation of product selectivity, impedance, stability and medium-to-high-current-density performance. The optimized catalyst achieved an ethylene Faradaic efficiency of 73.2% and an ethylene partial current density of −700.8 mA cm⁻².
